Bringing Out the Best in Your Dog

Training Services

About Me
I am so glad you landed here! I have loved dogs as soon as I was old enough to start bugging my family for one and have come full circle to help others enjoy their pets. I hold a Master's in Experimental Psychology where I spent time digging into how learning happens and have since spent several years teaching those concepts in the classroom and applying my learning to the professional world.
I'm excited to use my experience to offer a different kind of dog training to the Kanawha Valley. By applying a scientific understanding of how learning works to the practical realities of a busy household, I help bridge the communication gap between you and your dog.

The Dog Sport Difference
Why should you care if your dog trainer competes in sports? Dog sport, especially ones like IGP, teaches you an incredible amount about dogs of all types. You cannot be successful within dog sport until you can:
-
Be an extraordinarily clear trainer. If I am confusing, we are not successful.
-
Manage a dog who really wants something and will stop at nothing to get it.
-
Find a way to work with, not against, your dog.
Working with high drive working dogs has taught me more about becoming the best trainer I can be than any book, classroom, or seminar ever could. This knowledge helps me provide you with clarity, effective management, and results that leave you and your dog happier.
I am proud to say that I live harmoniously with several accomplished dogs. I am an active competitor in the dog sport world of scent work, IGP, AKC Rally, and several other sports as time allows. I have enjoyed learning from some of the best trainers and look forward to applying that knowledge to each of my client dogs. My personal dogs Goose, Chilly, and Kip often accompany me to lessons to help clients work on reactivity and provide stable distractions for dogs to learn with before venturing out into the "real world."
